i could tell by all the frantic phone calls that i forgot to do the Top 5 yesterday. So here's a special list....
Kallie's Top 5 Birthdays
Age 21: surprise party at Whitney's house. Good clean fun.
Age 15: double-birthday party w/Korina at her house. We had a Batman cake and borrowed Bernie Hansen's big trampoline.
Age 17?: surprise party at Josselyn's house (scared the living ___ out of me). A good mix of church and school friends and a campfire.
Age 11?: had a Booble-Big-Pig cake that we decorated with M&Ms and Reese's Pieces. My mom makes better cakes than your mom.
Age 24: i know it hasn't happened yet, but i've already got some pretty cool presents and Josh has indulged me enough to celebrate the whole month.
i'm sure there were some pretty crazy parties when i was a little kid, but i can't really remember them. Anyway, whoever remembers /shares a birthday story from the earliest age wins a batch of cookies from the super-cool cookie book Bonbon got me for my birthday. And seriously, the cakes my mom made were CRAZY! (mom, send pix and i'll post them to make all the other kids jealous)

well, i dont know if will win the prize for the earliest memory, but i think that i should get the cookies because i only have ONE memory! it must have been around first grade and included michelle menefee, kara baker (first grade is a strange time) lacy and kallie.
classic sleepover, some interesting presents (spider wars?) and that was it. my only birthday memory ever. oh the pitfalls of being born on a national family-type holiday. so, i win the cookies. i just decided that so you dont have to wait for anyone else to post, just start on a batch for me.
8 or 9 years old
Azteca restaurant
Went out with the whole family and some little friends for Mexican bday party. Was enjoying myself thoroughly. Thought that since I had adamantly told me parents I didn't want any birthday singing or attention from the whole restaurant, they wouldn't tell the hostess about my special day. WAS WRONG. hundreds of busboys, waiters, waitresses, cooks, janitors, mariachi bands gathered and sang a very scary version of "happy bday" and also put a sombrero on my tiny head that went right over my eyes and scratched my nose. then, when i thought they were done and would leave me to eat my bday flan in peace, NO, they smeared whip cream all over my face. whole restaurant was laughing and pointing at "whip cream face". very traumatic for an 8 year old who does NOT like to be the center of attention, and still dreads it because of that occasion. you know where to send the double chocolate walnut cookies Kal...
